Abstract
The purpose of this study was to test the validity of the CRAFFT which is a tool to screen problematic drinking for adolescents in multicultural families. Of 13th(2017 year) Korean Youth Risk Behavior Survey data, 130 adolescents in multicultural families who drank alcohol during the past 30 days were selected. Item-analysis, reliability, factor analysis, convergent validity, and ROC analysis were conducted. As for study¡¯s results, the CRAFFT was composed of a single factor construct with 6 items; and reliability (KR-20) was found to be 0.85. In order to test convergent validity, a correlation analysis between risky drinking and the CRAFFT was conducted and it was found to be a positive(+) relationship. The results of ROC analysis indicated that the score of 1 or higher was proper as a cut-off point of the CRAFFT to screen problematic drinking. To conclude, the CRAFFT is an appropriate screening tool for adolescents in multicultural families. Based on these results, the limitation of using the CRAFFT and the significance of carefully interpreting the CRAFFT to screen problematic drinking among adolescents in multicultural families are discussed.
